Schemm & Buse

Beitrag von orestis »

Hello freunde

I Recently acquired a Schemm & Buse hand siren from a scrap yard in Central Greece. It was in service by the Greek Army from the 60s. It came with two cranks, the original is broken, it seems it can be fixed though. The problem is that the rotor moves very roughly into the stator. The crank moves freely when the rotor is not connected and the gears are perfectly ok. Can anyone help with the repair procedure of a HSM7 / Schemm & Buse type rotor issues? Detailed photos to follow.

It seems that the problem was the bearing, which was seriously damaged. Half of the balls where missing. I bought a new one, but the outer shell is stack in the stator. I tried to pull it out but it is almost impossible even after heating it whith a hair dryer. I don't want to damage the aluminium whith a torch. Any ideas? Which is the original bearing permanent position? On the rotor shaft or into the stator? Thanks.
