This NEVA55 siren sits on a building in Gazi area near Kerameikos in Athens. They told me that it was installed there about 1965. Unfortunatelly someone painted over the name plate!
Here are the pics:

Hi orestis,
the NEVA55 looks like an copy of the German E57. It's very interesting to look for the differences.
Thanks a lot for the nice pictures.
With kind regards,
Siggi

Thanks for the pics! This is very interesting indeed! I wonder how you got on top of the buildings. This wouldn´t be that easy in Germany..
EDIT: Also, falls hier jemand Probleme mit Englisch hat, soll er´s sagen, ich übersetze dann noch alle Antworten zusätzlich...

It's not easy either in Greece, but I used my student identity card. I signed an application and someone accompanied me to the roof. (The building is used by the Natural Gaz company) In Germany would be more difficult because many buildings have valley roofs (^). In greek big cities very few buildings of this type left...

Hi at all!
@orestis
Does exist a sound example of this siren type? When is a test of this siren the next time to check the right function, by the way maybe it´s possible to record a sound example!? (I hope so)
I´m very interested in to hear the sound of it! And I´m sure I´m not the only one here among our whole members
Perhaps soon we all have the opportunity to hear this great sound!
Best regards: Michel

Hi Michel!
I posted the NEVA55 sound link in this forum a few time ago. In Greece we do not have very often siren tests (about once in 2 years).
The last time they tested sirens it was in low voltage and for a very short period (don't know why - and how they managed to do that !)
I remember a group of journalists whith cameras near a siren waiting to it to go off. They left disappointed - Really hard to hear it!
The sound

Hi!
@orestis
Sorry, but I didn´t hear this soundfile never before! It´s the first time i hear this sound! I wonder what happened to me, because i didn´t know about this file!!
But it´s a great and exciting sound, very interesting! Please make some more records for the future if you have the chance. It´s very welcome here to hear another sounds of other foreign sirens.
Good luck.
Greets

Here is a drawing of NEVA55' s rotor. I can' t explain why the vanes' edge is slanted. I haven' t seen that type of rotor in other siren types

Hi!
This is the new series of NEVA55 -well it mast be not exactly new, perhaps 10 years- with differently shaped canopy made of GFK and blue colour. All the new ones installed, are like that.

New fotos of NEVA 55 in Nafplion. The original old colours can be seen, as the siren has never been restored, the blue - grey body, the yellow rotor and the red arrow.

Oh, my dear, bad condition !!
What about some special companies repairing and servicing the sirens in Greece ?

Well, I don't know much about it, but as far as I know only the state is in duty for servicing the sirens... Someone told me that the National Telecommunication Company does it. (The most of NEVA 55 in Athens are restored and unfortunatelly they didn't use their original colour) This siren is located in a small town.
