Ah yes! You are right! I forgot Siemens was also making the E57. Do you know when it was discontinued by Siemens?
Also what do we know about this Siemens L737 ??

Thank you for the very interesting docs! Do they contain any info on production dates? It's interesting how Siemens was still involved with sirens in 1958 while it had stopped producing them a long time ago.

It seems that the problem was the bearing, which was seriously damaged. Half of the balls where missing. I bought a new one, but the outer shell is stack in the stator. I tried to pull it out but it is almost impossible even after heating it whith a hair dryer. I don't want to damage the aluminium ...

I found an old picture of a Siemens L135 siren, labeled Albiswerk Zürich A.G. The siren is placed in a wind tube test bench at ETH university in Zürich, uknown date. (Note that the siren looks brand new - not even painted)

Update: the old Siemens siren has been saved fortunately (after 10 years!) and totally refurbished and rewound. It has a new home now, on a school a few km away from its old location. An adventure with happy end for a great siren.

Another autumn siren test here in Athens and this time I recorded an old Greek 'ELVIMA' siren from 1950. Notice the man who is in charge to check this siren, sitting right next to it when it goes off.
A solid base is something else!!! But it has been running for 64 years!

Not much of a reaction. People know from the media when a siren test is scheduled and unless they are really close to a siren they continue their occupation.
